FATHER'S DAy is one of those holidays that often gets lost on the calendar. Without a white-bearded patron saint, official bird to baste, or display of multi-colored explosions, how does a quaint holiday like this compete? In fact, we’re lucky to have Father’s Day at all. Consider that Mother’s Day predated it by more than half a century.

4 — PGA TOUR EVENTS The Memorial Despite last year’s shift to a week later in the schedule, weather once again caused a ruckus at the Memorial Tournament. When all was finally said and done the interruptions distracted Sweden’s Carl Pettersson the least as he went on to log his second career victory with 12-under par. Carl’s game has been a little soggy this year. He has only rung out 1 top ten finish and is still in search of Tour victory #3. Let’s see if he can go back to back at Jack’s place. When: May 31-June 3 The Buick Open The rains didn’t seem to bother Tiger Woods, either, as he notched his 50th PGA Tour victory at last year’s Buick Open with an amazing combined 26 under, 264. This score, however, is still 2 off the tournament record held by Robert Wrenn. The playing of the 2007 Buick is slotted a full month earlier in the schedule. It will mark the 20th anniversary of Wrenn’s 262, the only top finish in his career. When: June 28-July 1

Played in April, this tournament is held in honor of the legendary Old Tom Morris and his son Tommy…and in honor of golfing fathers and sons around the globe.
